    This Blog Is On Sabbatical

Over the last 2 months it had become clear to me that I am not able to do all that I would love to do -- including blogging here.

Part of me hates prioritizing ... hates giving up the dream of being able to do everything. But, the reality is that nary a word has been posted here for more than 2 months.

And, I have other priorities ... other things that are garnering my attention. These include blogging at New Coach Connection. True, it's only 3x a month but the posts take a lot of research and careful composition.

Plus, I want to work on my Memoir, Beyond The Pain ... and I want to restart blogging about it. You'll find the blog here at Beyond The Pain.

And, I'm working on growing my coaching practice. You'll find my website/blog at The Unsticking Coach.

So, right now I don't know when ... or if I'll come back here.

Thanks for visiting over the last 3 years. And, thanks especially for your comments.

    Good luck. God Bless.

    Paris in The Spring Time!

Or, is it Paris DOES Time in the Spring!

What is it about Celebutantes like Paris that attracts/repels us, er me?

Is it that I can't believe anyone can really be a) that rich AND b) that dumb?

Or, is it that I just wish I was that rich and "famous"?

    A fleeting fame.

The desire for recognition. Even if for being  a stupid girl!

I mean ALL of us want to be "known", heard, seen.

We clamour for attention in our families.

I guess money can't buy love... and attention.

So, you become a chaser of media attention.

Wharhol was right. "15 minutes" and gone!

Sometimes I feels sorry for the gal.

Other times I just want to smack her upside the head and shout, "GROW THE FUCK UP!"

But, then maybe I'm just talking to the Paris in me.

    Google Zeitgeist

For those who can't get enough trivia. Or, who are compelled to find out what others are interested it... as revealed by those search terms entered into Google.

    Here is Google Zeitgeist.

What was on the minds of the US public last month?

Seems like movies, movies, and Denver airport.

What's fun is to compare the US Zeitgeist to say, my own and native land Canada.

Seems we Canucks were more interested in what's for sale at Canadian Tire and Air Canada.

    Dating For Geeks

This just in from Google a new Beta product, Google Romance.

Here's a quote from the Google Blog: this...

"beta product currently incubating in Google Labs, uses cutting-edge personal search algorithms to help you find your soulmate, then sponsors your first Contextual Date with said soulmate-to-be in exchange for showing you highly relevant advertising that just might help Cupid's arrow find its mark. Does it really work? Ask our internal beta testers -- if you can find them, that is. Not a single one has shown up for work in days."

    Hmm!

    Could this replace Cupid's arrow?

Superman's Real Life Lois is Dead

This just in, Dana Reeve, Christopher's wife and boon companion is dead of lung cancer.

Apparently, 1 in 5 women, who never lit a cigarette die of lung cancer.

This leaves their son Will without a parent.

I can not imagine the loneliness and anguish he must feel.

    Life sucks!!

    Death sucks even more.

Say a prayer or six for young Will.

Or, donate to the the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation

    Life in the GooglePlex

This Time Photo Essay shows a 'thin slice' of life at Google's corporate headquarters.

I was particularly struck by one picture. The huge white board used to capture employee crazy ideas.

That reminded me of what we tried to do when I worked in the Information Systems department of a large Canadian Oil & Gas firm. Looking for innovation one of the techies created the "Crazy Ideas Task Force".

One day he came to me and said, in effect, "Lyle. You're pretty crazy. The ideas the Crazy Ideas Task Force is coming up with aren't 'crazy' enough. What do you suggest?"

I suggested that he take sheets of flip chart paper and write a question/problem, e.g. how can we increase productivity, and one whacked out suggestion, e.g. fire all managers,  on them. Then he should post them up on the walls of bathroom stalls and tape a flip chart pen next to them. By the way, this necessitated sneaking into the women's washrooms after hours. But, he did it!

I've always been curious about what happened -- I left the company's employ shortly after that and never did hear the final results.

I do know that the action did stir things up!

    Star Jones Life Coach

    Lord give me a break!

This report says that AOL's new "AOL Coaches" site will feature The View's, Star Jones helping women find healthy  relationships.

Other featured "Life Coaches" include Tom Peters, Stephen Covey, and relationship expert John Gottman.

Oh, I can hardly wait! NOT!

    Tom Peters a coach?

    Come on people!

He's going to be the kind of coach my ex-boss was... screaming, yelling, stomping. That's not coaching. That's bullying!

What's up with this sudden embracing of "Life Coaching" by has-been celebrities?

It's enough to make me go back to calling myself a ... consultant.
