    Teaser Excerpt From My Novel

Ok boys and girls just rememer: My Writing might be shit but it's MY SHIT!

If I catch anyone scarfing my writing you will PAY!

    = = Here it is R Rated!! = =

Rich stared at the screaming pink vibrator in his hand.

Huge was not quite the right word for it. Massive, perhaps. Definitely, humungous.
He wondered why the fuck anyone would own, yet alone use something so grossly huge.

What was worse was the fact that it belonged to the dead girl. Miranda, he thought, that was her name. He knew her as []. . .

The Secret Movie 30 Day Challenge - Day 7

Let's start with The Secret naysayers. Check out Salon.com on Oprah's "pandering of the Secret." via Andy Wibbels.

Phrases that stick in my mind: "a mishmash of self help cliches" and "the book certainly has created instant wealth, at least for Rhonda Byrne and her partners-in-con."

Salon's Peter Birkenhead certainly isn't a raving fan of The Secret. Read and think.

    My Intentions

Well it's Day 7 and my new bike hasn't shown up yet! ;-)

What has shown up is a lot of physical pain. It's Chinooking here and my Fibromyalgia has been kicking my ass -- and, other parts. As a result I'm 3 days into the week and already 5 days behind. So, this post will be relatively short.

    My Acting Intention

Interesting coincidence? I met with a colleague on Monday to turn over a training manual. We got chatting and I mentioned that I had signed up with a talent agency. He asked which one and I told him. His terse reply, "they're a bunch of crooks". Why, I asked. "Any agency that expects you to pay up front isn't legit". Well, I don't know about that. But, it did put a bit of a downward spin on my plans.

Just out of curiosity I'm going to see if the Better Business Bureau has any complaints about them. Probably should have asked that FIRST. Oh, well.

    My Calling Intention

Not much to report. No dreams remembered. But, lots of interesting things to think about in my readings about Callings.

The Secret Skeptic - My Intentions

It's day 3 of The Secret Movie 30 Day Challenge!

You can listen in to the kick off call over at Andy Wibbels.com with Andy and Maryam Webster.

I’m already two days behind! ;-)

I have to say this: 1) This is something I want to do, the challenge that is, 2) I need to and will write about it, and 3) blogging it feels very narcissistic – oh, and scary!

I mean I will tell anything to anyone – if they ask. But, hey that’s one on one. Or, even maybe a class I’m teaching. But crud monkeys – putting it out to the Blogosphere – who hoo, that’s scary!

When it comes to The Secret and The Power of Intention, I’d classify myself as an Agnostic. I sorta believe and sorta don’t.

So, what’s a lad to do?

Andy suggested setting 3 Intentions. But, I like Maryam’s suggestion: set 1 ‘hard’ Intention, like manifesting a new home or car and 1 ‘soft’ one.

I’m going to go one step farther. For one of the intentions, I’m going to do nothing – or, virtually nothing.

For the other, I will go whole hoggish (well I am a Pig in Chinese astrology).

Hmm! What to do? What to do?

Okay, this is my ‘hard’ intention. I’ve always had the acting bug – or, should I say the dream-of-acting bug. I have appeared as a non-paid ‘performer’ in a couple of documentary videos. I’ve always ‘talked’ about acting but done bugger all about it.

Then . . . recently I ‘test drove’ the “Career Direction Inventory” to see if it was a tool I wanted to use with my clients. I was very surprised that one of my top 3 interest areas was “The Performing Arts”. I hadn’t realized the ‘yearning’ was that strong?

Then a couple of weeks ago I saw an ad for movies extras. And, this week got a call to sign up with a Talent Agency. So, I did!

Now, here’s my intention: By March 30th, and preferably sooner, I will have ‘manifested’ an acting gig. That is, I will have a ‘contract’ to perform in a TV or radio commercial or in a video.

For this Intention I will ‘do’ the minimum. In this case, that means I will make sure I sign up and add my name to the Talent database. And, the only other thing I will do is ‘pay attention’. That is, simply tune-up my Reticular Activating System and see what walks by.

My other intention is probably best described as “fuzzy” not soft. I’ve talked about it a bit.

First my statement of Intention: By March 30th, I will manifest clarity in my Second Calling. That is, I will know my calling and have a good idea of the path I want to take to follow it.

    How I will measure it?

I will use a Subjective Measure of Definition (SUD). That is, right now on a scale from 1 to 10 where 1 is Totally-In-The-Dark and 10 is Crystal-Clear, I’m a 4. My intention is to manifest an SUD of at least 8.

For this Intention I’m going to go full throttle. I’m going to create a clear picture, craft my equivalent of an Affirmation, pray, consult my coach, and so on. That is Full Power Intentional Vision followed by Massive Action.

And, I’ll keep you posted as ‘stuff happens’ and as my Muse moves me.

    Good News ... Bad News

On Monday I was in severe pain... and had been for 15 days.

    Mystery pain.

The doctors I saw gave me 5 'provisional' diagnoses.

Provisional is doc talk  for Scientific Wild Ass Guess!

One of the diagnoses was very worrisome... Deep Vein Thrombosis in the upper left leg.

DVT is a condition that spawns, in the quaint jargon of medicine, "throws' clots. You know those pesky little coagulations of blood, that travel to your brain, jam the pipes, and give you a STROKE!

    Was I worried?

    Well, yes, a little.

In a recent post on my Beyond the Pain Blog I conjectured that the real cause was likely psychogenic in origin.

But, with something as potentially risky as DVT one doesn't want to mess around.

My doctor gave me a lab requisition and his nurse asked me to book a sonogram.

When I did that the radiology company set up a date....in March, more than a month away. Jokingly I said to the booking agent, "well I could be dead by then." She laughed and defensively said, "Well. It's a very special procedure and we only do it at one location and that's the first open slot!" I replied, "Fine. But, could you put me on a waiting list in case something opens up sooner?" Ah, well, ah.. maybe -- is the essence of her reply. I'm thinking, "one more thing for me to track!"

    Long story short.

Monday when I'm asking my doctor for an Rx for more pain killers, he finally gets the significance of what I told him a week before -- the damn test wouldn't happen for 5 weeks. BIG RISK!

He pulls some strings and 30 minutes after the conversation about pain killers the nurse calls and says, in her typical blunt Maritime way, "Got a pen? Take down this information! Tomorrow, 10:55 you have an appointment for an ultrasound! at [x]. You know where that is?" "Yes," I reply.

Guess doctor pulled some strings. Called in some favours.

Really I wasn't worried that it WAS DVT. Really.

But, still I was relieved to have the appointment...

    and the drugs!

    To be continued....
