    Morning Pages Sunday, November 2, 2008 5:01 a.m.

    I’m hornier than fucking hell.

But, really tired too. My head aches. The damn barometric pressure is bouncing around.

Warping… Frig I need to reserve the URL for my book, just in case.

Frig. [] was taken! So was []! So I had to reserve []. Oh, well.

Man if Julia Camerson saw my Morning Pages she’d shit! Hey! I should write a blog post about that, “Julia Cameron Hates Me!” That’s nice and provocative and might garner some traffic to my site.

Got lost AGAIN! When I went to blog I suddenly remembered I wanted to check out the blog mentioned in J. A. Jance’s last Ali Reynolds mystery. As I suspected the URL really leads to Jance’s own publicity site. Interesting that the blog portion of the site hasn’t any entries. Q,uelle suprize! Who the fuck has time for blogging when you are writing one or two god damn novels a year.

Jeff Buick’s site is like that. Three lousy blog entries! Oh pissy little me. Jeff’s written and PUBLISHED four mysteries. FOUR more than me!!

Fuck! Back on track. That is if there IS a track to Morning Pages.

I’m hungry. I think I’ll go get some breakfast and then come back here.

I’m continually amazed at how fantastic I am at avoiding writing.

Today I planned to start writing as soon as I sat down at the computer. It’s an hour later and I’ve written squat. FUCK!

Instead it’s e-mails, brewing tea, getting organized for NaNo, and browsing my favourite porn site . . .

Paris is Push; Baghdad is Pull

Marty Kaplan takes a swipe at mainstream media in this column at The Huffington Post.

Kaplan alleges (in my words) that mainstream media (read CNN and it's clones) spews useless trivia while the intelligent reader looks to blogs and 'real' newspapers for significant news.

Who knew that my occasional musings were part of the world of promotional PULL.

The Secret Movie 30 Day Challenge - Day 7

Let's start with The Secret naysayers. Check out Salon.com on Oprah's "pandering of the Secret." via Andy Wibbels.

Phrases that stick in my mind: "a mishmash of self help cliches" and "the book certainly has created instant wealth, at least for Rhonda Byrne and her partners-in-con."

Salon's Peter Birkenhead certainly isn't a raving fan of The Secret. Read and think.

    My Intentions

Well it's Day 7 and my new bike hasn't shown up yet! ;-)

What has shown up is a lot of physical pain. It's Chinooking here and my Fibromyalgia has been kicking my ass -- and, other parts. As a result I'm 3 days into the week and already 5 days behind. So, this post will be relatively short.

    My Acting Intention

Interesting coincidence? I met with a colleague on Monday to turn over a training manual. We got chatting and I mentioned that I had signed up with a talent agency. He asked which one and I told him. His terse reply, "they're a bunch of crooks". Why, I asked. "Any agency that expects you to pay up front isn't legit". Well, I don't know about that. But, it did put a bit of a downward spin on my plans.

Just out of curiosity I'm going to see if the Better Business Bureau has any complaints about them. Probably should have asked that FIRST. Oh, well.

    My Calling Intention

Not much to report. No dreams remembered. But, lots of interesting things to think about in my readings about Callings.

The Secret Movie 30 Day Challenge - Day 5

It is day 5 of The Secret Movie 30 Day Challenge.

I took the weekend off to sojourn in the mountains. Went Dog Sledding, Saturday, across the Great Divide! Man those puppies love to run – the sled dogs, that is.

    Intentions Progress Report:

On my drive out to the mountains I heard a commercial, soliciting volunteers, for a local theatre company. It helped clarify my Acting Intention.

I thought about giving them a call. I mean who knows where it could lead? But, I’m not going to call. Why?

Instead I’m going to use it to be more specific about my Acting Intention. It should more specifically say, “I want to manifest a paying acting gig by March 30th.”

I’ve been “working” on my Calling Intention. Work has involved: 1) reading Gregg Levoy’s “Callings: Finding and Following an Authentic Life”; 2) writing here and in my Ezine; and 3) asking my subconscious to supply an answer through my Dreams (as Levoy suggests we do).

    No big aha’s yet.

The Secret Skeptic - My Intentions

It's day 3 of The Secret Movie 30 Day Challenge!

You can listen in to the kick off call over at Andy Wibbels.com with Andy and Maryam Webster.

I’m already two days behind! ;-)

I have to say this: 1) This is something I want to do, the challenge that is, 2) I need to and will write about it, and 3) blogging it feels very narcissistic – oh, and scary!

I mean I will tell anything to anyone – if they ask. But, hey that’s one on one. Or, even maybe a class I’m teaching. But crud monkeys – putting it out to the Blogosphere – who hoo, that’s scary!

When it comes to The Secret and The Power of Intention, I’d classify myself as an Agnostic. I sorta believe and sorta don’t.

So, what’s a lad to do?

Andy suggested setting 3 Intentions. But, I like Maryam’s suggestion: set 1 ‘hard’ Intention, like manifesting a new home or car and 1 ‘soft’ one.

I’m going to go one step farther. For one of the intentions, I’m going to do nothing – or, virtually nothing.

For the other, I will go whole hoggish (well I am a Pig in Chinese astrology).

Hmm! What to do? What to do?

Okay, this is my ‘hard’ intention. I’ve always had the acting bug – or, should I say the dream-of-acting bug. I have appeared as a non-paid ‘performer’ in a couple of documentary videos. I’ve always ‘talked’ about acting but done bugger all about it.

Then . . . recently I ‘test drove’ the “Career Direction Inventory” to see if it was a tool I wanted to use with my clients. I was very surprised that one of my top 3 interest areas was “The Performing Arts”. I hadn’t realized the ‘yearning’ was that strong?

Then a couple of weeks ago I saw an ad for movies extras. And, this week got a call to sign up with a Talent Agency. So, I did!

Now, here’s my intention: By March 30th, and preferably sooner, I will have ‘manifested’ an acting gig. That is, I will have a ‘contract’ to perform in a TV or radio commercial or in a video.

For this Intention I will ‘do’ the minimum. In this case, that means I will make sure I sign up and add my name to the Talent database. And, the only other thing I will do is ‘pay attention’. That is, simply tune-up my Reticular Activating System and see what walks by.

My other intention is probably best described as “fuzzy” not soft. I’ve talked about it a bit.

First my statement of Intention: By March 30th, I will manifest clarity in my Second Calling. That is, I will know my calling and have a good idea of the path I want to take to follow it.

    How I will measure it?

I will use a Subjective Measure of Definition (SUD). That is, right now on a scale from 1 to 10 where 1 is Totally-In-The-Dark and 10 is Crystal-Clear, I’m a 4. My intention is to manifest an SUD of at least 8.

For this Intention I’m going to go full throttle. I’m going to create a clear picture, craft my equivalent of an Affirmation, pray, consult my coach, and so on. That is Full Power Intentional Vision followed by Massive Action.

And, I’ll keep you posted as ‘stuff happens’ and as my Muse moves me.

The Secret Skeptic - Post #1

I've decided to join in on Andy Wibbels' The Secret Movie 30 Day Challenge.

First, let me make my 'position' on The Secret clear.

I loath the movie. I feel the movie is way, way to heavy on "Money" and Materialism. And, way to light on meaning and humanity. I've only watched the first 30 minutes but it annoyed the crap out of me. Give me a break: manifesting a bicycle. HA!

Oh, and what about all those so-called "philosophers'? RIGHT! Bob Proctor has been hawking motivational concepts since I was a babe. He's a much a philosopher as I am.

Now, my colleague Michael Port sees it a bit differently. Michael, being the marketing guru he is, sees The Secret as a phenomenal marketing story. It IS! That's my freaking point! It's SELLING an idea.

    Now, about the idea.

    I'm conflicted.

I have had occasions in my life where I set an intention and great things happened. I wrote about this in a recent newsletter. And, my Inner-Polly-Anna would like to believe that all I have to do is ENVISION my DREAMS. And, poof! The Genie, aka The Universe, will deliver!

Sorry, I grew up with strong message about the value of work.

Now, I think work can be easier and more soul fulfilling than my parents envisioned.

But, I really do feel like Julia Cameron who said this about intention, "Pray for the bus. And, the run like hell!"

The forumula is Intention followed by ACTION.

My first action in this blogging adventure for me will be figuring out my intention.

YES, I plan to give this a shot!

After all, the worse thing that could happen is NOTHING!
